Elmo Rietschle’s R Series are dry running positive displacement rotary lobe pumps. Only the gearbox and bearings are oil lubricated and these are separated from the pumping chamber where no oil or grease is present.
These oil-free vacuums can be customised to cater to the varying demands of customer applications. They are available as basic units, compact units, and company units with an acoustic enclosure.
Rotary lobe pumps are used in many industrial applications but are most suited for jobs that require coarse or fine vacuum.
Rotary lobe operating principle
The pumping action of lobe vacuums is generated by the counter rotation of two rotors within a housing chamber. Similar to rotary vane technology, air enters through an inlet opening into a conveying cell which is formed by two rotors in the casing. The cell is then separated from the inlet and is conveyed without reduction. Air with a higher pressure flows from the chamber into the cell, and is then discharged. It is during this stage that external compression takes place.
Advantages of lobe technology
- Safely handle sludge, slurry, and solids without causing damage
- Handle low viscosity liquids
- Pumping chamber large enough to handle large particles
- No contacting parts reduce the risk of wear and tear
- Suitable for hygienic and strict air quality applications
- Low pulsation design
R-VWP
The R-VWP is a vacuum pump set consisting of a rotary vane and rotary lobe vacuum pump. The lubricated vanes are used as a backing pump in combination with the lobe as a booster pump for when high end vacuum and suction capacity are required. The main application of the R-VWP is in industrial fine vacuum.
