ACB North stocks a range of oil-lubricated rotary screw compressors designed and manufactured by industry-leaders, CompAir. Innovative design features, precision engineering, and application know-how make CompAir one of the most trusted industrial equipment manufacturers in the industry.

The reputable L series range offers machines with compression capabilities between 4kW to 290kW and producing working pressure at 5 bar to 13 bar. Plus, the air-end is manufactured in Germany at the state-of-the-art facility to the highest tolerances.

Rotary Screw Operating Principle

Rotary screw compressors are one of the most widely used technologies on the market and are renowned for their durability and reliability. Simple in design yet high performing, screw compressors use positive displacement technology to reduce the volume of air. The main compression elements are called rotors – one male and one female. The rotors spin in opposite directions, drawing air in between them and forcing it along the length of the rotor. As the space between the rotors and the housing decreases, the air is forced into a smaller volume. The compressed air can then be displaced at the outlet.

Lubricated compressors

The L series of rotary screw compressors are oil lubricated models. Oil is used for 4 main purposes in the installation:

  • Cooling
  • Lubrication
  • Sealing
  • Noise dissipation

Oil helps to keep the compressor running smoothly and efficiently and is an important part of the compression process. Where air quality is important for specific industries, downstream equipment can be used to clean the compressed air to remove any traces of oil from the end product. ACB North stock a range of air treatment accessories including oil filters and air dryers to clean your compressed air and remove any form of contamination.

Benefits of Rotary Screw Technology

Tried and tested by many industries, rotary screw compressors offer proven reliability for their customers. As they don’t have any valves or mechanical force that can cause unbalance, they can work at high speeds with large flow rates, whilst still providing a compact design.

Precision engineered to provide no duty cycle, screw compressors are tireless workhorses delivering a constant supply of compressed air without downtime. When sized correctly for your operation, they deliver amazing energy efficiency for owners, lowering operating costs and delivering amazing results.

Other benefits of the design include:

  • Low noise
  • Low vibration
  • Reduced maintenance
  • Long lifespan

Fixed and Variable Speed

The L Series 7 – 290kW models are all available in both fixed and variable speed.

Matching supply to demand is an important part of improving the efficiency of your operation and lowering your total cost of ownership. If you have a constant demand that requires a fixed amount of compressed air, then fixed speed models can offer great energy efficiency for owners.

However, variable speed compressors are designed to reliably handle varying air demands, meaning you only use what you need to! In most industries and plants, variable air demands are likely, therefore a VSD compressor can help to improve your overall efficiency and significantly reduce your cost of ownership.
